It’s been said that the love of money is the root of all evil.  Well, you don’t have to “love” money to realize that a lack of it can be one of the most common causes of stress for most of us.  Financial problems can cause divorce, depression, and constant anxiety.

Most of us tend to believe if we “only had more money” things life would be good and all would be well.  Research indicates that it’s not the amount of money you have, but the way it’s managed that causes stress.

It’s vitally important to learn to live within your means and grow a viable savings account so that you’re prepared for life’s emergencies and aren’t tempted to reach for your credit card when something unexpected happens. A savings account will give you peace of mind to move forward in life without anxiety.

Where Do You Stand?
The first step is to find out where you stand financially.  How much debt do you have and what sort of interest rates are you paying?  Where is your cash going?  What little “extras” are eating up your cash and causing you to reach for your credit card?

It may be difficult and somewhat “eye opening” to put your spending habits under the microscope, but it’s a necessity if you want to be debt (and stress) free ASAP.

Once you know where your “cash leak” is, you can alter your spending habits accordingly and put yourself on a budget.

The “B” Word—Bite the Bullet and Get On a Budget!
The word “budget” may be a dirty word right now, but the restrictions you endure now will pay off eventually and alleviate the financial stress that has weighed you down in the past.  The freedom you gain from the constant stress and worry over owing too much and making too little will be so worth it in the long run.

In the words of Dave Ramsey, start “acting your wage” and live a debt-free lifestyle that is line with your ultimate financial and life goals—even before you become debt free.  If you can’t afford a daily latte from Starbucks, brew up a to-go cup of coffee from home instead.

Speaking of Dave Ramsey, his debt-free program is outstanding and has help thousands of people get out from underneath mountains of debt.  He has a daily syndicated radio program as well as a television show on Fox Business Network at 8:00 p.m. EST each evening.  For more information check out Dave’s website—you’ll be so glad you did!

Debt has been proven to be one of the most common causes of stress and anxiety.  However, the stress you experience now over debt may translate into a different sort of stress when you come across something you want to buy, but can’t afford.  However, this sort of stress is only temporary because, ultimately, you will realize that you’re doing something positive with your life and any financial sacrifices you make now will definitely pay off in the future.

If you’re currently bogged down with financial chaos and stress, be sure to take time to care for your health.  The causes of stress may result in sleep deprivation, unhealthy eating, and indulging in harmful habits which will only compound the effects of stress with physical issues you’ll regret later.

Recommendation:

  1. Lithium Orotate is an all natural supplement (unlike prescription synthetic lithium prescribed by doctors) that has proven very effective for taking the edge off of chronic stress and anxiety. I have personally used it for the past couple of years and find it very helpful in lifting the stress and lightening my mood. It does not cause any drowsiness or foggy thinking at all–in fact it seems to sharpen my mind and give clarity of thought. Highly recommended!
  2. Conquering Stress is an incredibly helpful guide to managing stress, anxiety and depression naturally without making major “life changes” or taking prescription antidepressants. It’s very well thought out and has helped a lot of people gain control of chronic stress in their lives.

Warning: If you are currently on prescription anti-depressants, you must work with your doctor to safely discontinue use, if desired. Do not abruptly discontinue use of such medications as this could cause severe withdrawal effects.
