Effects of Stress – Are You Sick All Of The Time?

Most of us don’t realize that the effects of stress can lead to a weakened immune system that makes us prone to catch every “bug” that comes along.  Do you have a constant cold, or recurring infection or illness?  Chronic stress may very well be the culprit.

If you deal with daily or chronic stress—and who doesn’t—it’s very important to take proactive steps to strengthen your immune system.  After all, who can afford to constantly “under the weather”.  Your work suffers, your family suffers and most importantly—you suffer. 

There’s no need to run to the doctor every time you get a sniffle.  Most prescription and over the counter medications are ineffective because they deal primarily with symptoms and don’t get to the root cause of the infection—which is usually a compromised immune system.

There are many good things you can do to boost your immune system and stay healthy in the face of daily stress.  You don’t have to be at the mercy of the effects of stress any longer.

Vitamins
Add a good vitamin and mineral supplement to your daily regimen—especially during the cold and flu season.  Liquid vitamin supplements are more easily absorbed by your body and, therefore, more effective.

Diet
Eat your veggies!  A healthy and balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables and healthy proteins is vitally important to building and sustaining a strong immune system.  Healthy “living” foods will feed your body’s “living cells” and will work wonders in combating the effects of stress.

Exercise
Move it or lose it!  Get some sort of daily exercise.  Enjoy some fresh air and walk the dog if weather permits or “unearth” that treadmill sitting in the corner and get at least 20-30 minutes of exercise each day.  This will also serve as a great stress reliever.

You-Time
Enjoy some quiet time each day.  Get up 15 or 20 minutes earlier than everyone else and enjoy some “you” time.  Do a few stretching and deep breathing exercises, make your “to do” list for the day, enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee and meditate on the things in your life for which you are grateful.  It’s a great way to start the day!
