Symptoms of Stress - The Dreaded Migraine - Part One
One of the worst and most common symptoms of stress is a blinding migraine headache. Migraine headaches are often the result of the fast paced world we live in. Life, these days, can be hectic and chaotic—add to that the pressures of an economic downturn, stress on the job, demands of family, a fast foods diet and it’s no surprise that an increased number of people suffer from mild to severe migraines.
Anyone who suffers from regular migraine headaches will attest that there aren’t many worse or more debilitating conditions than that of frequent migraines. They usually appear rather suddenly and attack with the gusto of a freight train when least expected.
What you may not realize is that migraines are very often the result of extreme anxiety and stress.
Because these horrible headaches usually strike with no warning, it’s really difficult to know how to prevent them. I’ve had my share of migraines, though I’ve been blessedly spared for several years.
Migraine Symptoms
The most common symptoms of stress migraines are:
- Dull throbbing headache from the back of the neck all the way up and over the head to the forehead and eyes or pain that is located on one side of the head
- Light, Noise and Odor Sensitivity
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Blurred Vision
- Loss of Peripheral Vision
Not a fun time folks…
Once a stress induced migraine comes on, all you want to do is leave your body until the “storm” subsides due to the unbearable pain.
I don’t take many over the counter medications at all anymore and personally don’t like the potential side effects, but when trying to fend off an oncoming migraine, I would definitely take 2-3 Advil or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. This type of medication may interrupt the flow of prostaglandin, a body chemical that causes pain and fever, before it can turn into a migraine. Try carrying these in your purse or pocket to fend off an oncoming migraine.
Unfortunately, while stress is many times a trigger, a migraine headache only increases the stress which in turn makes the symptoms of stress even worse!
Recommendation:
- Lithium Orotate is an all natural supplement (unlike prescription synthetic lithium prescribed by doctors) that has proven very effective for taking the edge off of chronic stress and anxiety. I have personally used it for the past couple of years and find it very helpful in lifting the stress and lightening my mood. It does not cause any drowsiness or foggy thinking at all–in fact it seems to sharpen my mind and give clarity of thought. Highly recommended!
- Conquering Stress is an incredibly helpful guide to managing stress, anxiety and depression naturally without making major “life changes” or taking prescription antidepressants. It’s very well thought out and has helped a lot of people gain control of chronic stress in their lives.Take the time to educate yourself and make a serious plan to take control of your mental, emotional and physical health by kicking stress, anxiety and depression out of your life quickly and permanently! Warning: If you are currently on prescription anti-depressants, you must work with your doctor to safely discontinue use, if desired. Do not abruptly discontinue use of such medications as this could cause severe withdrawal effects.
